Throughout my entire teaching career, I always taught academic high school courses and writing courses. Over the last few years in particular I became more and more passionate about working with people who had been left behind by the system.
I studied the Orton-Gillingham approach under Liisa Freure, who is the current president of the Ontario Branch of the International Dyslexic Association. I also investigated the Structured Word Inquiry approach. After using both of these approaches individually and in the classroom, I found that integrating the two approaches produces the most powerful results for people. This integration is referred to as Structured Literacy Approach.
The tutoring studio is a home-based business with an adjacent sitting room. People accompanying clients may choose to sit with us in the studio or relax in the sitting room.
